I graduated university in December of 2015. While working on my senior design project with a team member I had been getting to know throughout the semester, I asked him what his plan after graduating was. He had already accepted a job offer that was to start in late January so he was just planning to hang out until then.
So I asked again, “If you could do anything right after graduating, what would it be?” His response, “Go to Iceland and maybe back to Sweden.” To which I said, “Okay, why not? Let’s go!”
I had been floating the idea of wanting to do a long trip through Europe pretty much since I went there after high school. It seemed like what better time to go than right after graduating, when I had no job or responsibilities to worry about yet, right?
I had access to some money that I never used while in university, so the pieces were falling into place. My best friend and roommate was on board to join for the first two weeks. My boyfriend at the time was on board for 3 months. Another friend was already going to be in Europe but her travel friend couldn’t stay very long, so when they split up she met up with us, and ended up traveling with me for 2 months of the trip!
January 12- April 1, 81 days, 14 countries, 30 cities and a whirlwind trip!
